We are actively seeking a Database focused Software Engineer who will engage directly with Product and Engineering management, Development teams, Technical delivery teams, and vendors to ensure the successful design, development, and delivery of a Postgres based database solution. To be successful in this role you will lead the the charge in driving database change and release management processes while assisting with the overall maturity of the software development lifecycle  including the code base. Ultimately, a top-notch Database focused Software Engineer will ensure that software deliverables that require database changes comply with quality standards and are completed on time. As a Database focused Software Engineer you will work closely with the infrastructure team on deploying, managing and upgrading database deployments and schema migrations.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Help foster excellent database design practices.
  • Mentor developers and help guild them in writing cleaner more preferment database queries.
  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the existing content supply portfolio of applications and services.
  • Design, develop, modify, implement, and support software components anywhere in the Software stack, but specifically as relates to database interaction.
  • Determine root cause for the most complex software issues and develop practical, efficient, and permanent technical solutions.
  • Remain current on new technologies and available vendor packages; evaluate and make recommendations as necessary.
  • Determine process improvements, best practices, and develop new processes.
  • Work in close partnership with cross-functional teams and management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of programming / database experience.
  • Strong JavaScript programming skills.
  • Experience developing code in Go and Python is preferred.
  • Working experience in SQL & NoSQL databases, experience with Couchbase  & PostgreSQL being a plus.
  • Experience designing, implementing, maintaining database systems.
  • Ability to provide in-depth evaluation and analysis of unique complex technological issues.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organization and  time management skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach others about interaction with databases.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of duties.
  • Deep knowledge of Linux/Cloud based SQL, primarily in configuration and architecture of a PostgreSQL database, or AWS Aurora Postgres. Clustered deployment experience is preferred.
